Training Center for ITS Systems Engineering
A new introductory course offered by ITS
Recognition, development, and systematic investigation of methodologies and technologies for deploying intelligent transportation systems in traffic systems, smart cities, smart transportation, etc.
The ITS Association identifies a gap between the high level of technological recognition or the unique technique for each startup or local authority project and the need for broad recognition of the relevant broad technologies, techniques, and applications within which the project or system exists and is integrated. The current gap may affect and possibly hinder the application’s success and contribution.
In light of this, we see a need to institutionalize the extensive training and overall evidence of the fields of knowledge in ITS, to the point of establishing a unique academic track for the field in collaboration with research institutes and leading academic institutions in Israel and around the world.
The initial swallow is offered for your consumption. As an introduction and appetizer, we have designed a short course (16 academic hours) that will provide a basic and comprehensive overview of a number of disciplines. We hope that after participating, you will have an understanding of the vast array of subjects, technologies, and methodologies applicable to the application, assimilation, and development.
Included among the course topics are
-
- Introduction to ITS and its implementation in the transportation system, as well as a description of the current situation, obstacles, and future potential.
- Infrastructure aspects: principles of urban smart city development from a transportation perspective, the Israel 100 plan, ITS applications to upgrade road infrastructure, transportation, and traffic control systems, and ITS technologies to promote road safety and prevent and mitigate the severity of accidents.
- ITS system implementation in transportation, including electric, connected, and autonomous vehicles.
- MaaS (Mobility as a Service) is an innovative concept for the development of transportation, ITS to promote public transportation.
I am awaiting your presence and am looking forward to it.
Dr. Moshe Becker, ITS Association’s Director of Academic Affairs
